About Matt

I absolutely love the intersection of psychology & business, conducting experiments & having the opportunity to solve complex problems with a data-driven approach.

I have over 10 years of experience in consulting with and assisting to operate small businesses, and I specialize in applying the quantitative research methodologies I have developed throughout my academic career to create systematic data analysis processes. For over 5 ½ years I served as an internal consultant and led analytics in a growing food manufacturing business with B2B and B2C wholesale, retail, and ecommerce distribution channels. I was responsible for identifying and solving complex business problems involving organizational strategy, leadership, quantification and analytics, operations, project management and business development.

As a data analyst, I have focused on business intelligence and business analytics. My analysis projects were responsible for substantially improving the business’ margins and operating profitability within the preexisting space and equipment constraints. I utilized advanced functions and features in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets to conduct over 500 cost analysis projects across hundreds of developmental and production bills of material, often delivering margin improvements of over 20% through iterative data-driven process and material sourcing refinement.

Through my efforts, our product development process consistently produced projects which exceeded industry profit margins. To further expand efficiencies uncovered in this process, I prepared the organization to implement an enterprise resource planning (ERP) inventory management software to establish inventory quantification and the full digitization and semi-automation of inventory control processes.

I developed growth-focused metrics and KPI reporting dashboards in Google Sheets and Google Data Studio to drive quantitative decision making. I have been learning programmatic data analysis methodologies since 2019, studying SQL, Python, R, and Tableau, and in February 2022 I earned a certification as a data analytics professional from Google.

As an academic, I have developed a deep capacity for sourcing and synthesizing a broad range of rigorous sources into cohesive subject reviews and topical analyses. I utilize self-determination theory as my primary theoretical lens, and I specialize in mindful organizing and leadership, positive organizational scholarship, burnout, engagement, transcendental experiences, and plant medicine.

I love making new connections, so please reach out!
